Anomaly Cafe CCTV Guide — the Camera Is Its Own Job

Of the 8 documented regular anomalies in Anomaly Cafe, 5 can be caught by looking at the counter — and 3 only ever reveal themselves on the CCTV feeds. This page covers those three, when the camera unlocks, and the checking rhythm that keeps them from slipping through.

Why the camera is a separate detection channel

Most anomalies are counter-side: a face that is wrong, a body that reads as something it should not be. You catch those in the normal flow of taking orders. The camera-side three are different — nothing about them shows up in person. They exist on the feeds, and the feeds only get looked at if you decide to look.

That is what makes CCTV a job rather than a feature: serving the whole shift without cycling the cameras means three of the documented threats were invisible to you the entire time, no matter how sharp your counter checks were.

The three camera-only anomalies

📹 Eye Ghost

cross-verified

The tell: On the CCTV feed: a white ghost with a single eye and a mouth sitting on top of its body.

This one is documented as a camera-side anomaly — you catch it while cycling feeds, not at the counter. If a figure on camera doesn't match any normal cafe visitor, treat it as an anomaly rather than assuming a rendering quirk.

📹 Camera Looking

cross-verified

The tell: A character on the CCTV feed stares directly into the camera at you.

Normal characters ignore the cameras; this one tracks the lens. Known alpha quirk: its ears can sometimes render in the normal position, so don't clear a suspect just because one feature looks right — the stare is the tell.

📹 Head-Banging Anomaly

cross-verified

The tell: On camera, a character repeatedly slams its head against nearby objects.

A behaviour tell rather than an appearance tell — the model can look normal while the movement gives it away. Community write-ups compare it to the head-banger type seen in other anomaly games; it has no confirmed name here yet.

Confidence labels carry over from the full anomaly roster — where something is reported but not yet verified, the roster says so instead of presenting it as fact.

When the camera unlocks — the v1.3 fix

The camera prompt is available from Day 1. That is worth stating plainly because it was not always reliable: update v1.3 (Aug 6, 2026) shipped a CCTV prompt hotfix alongside two other changes — class abilities locked to their owner, and a cap on late-shift anomaly spawns.

Since that patch there is no excuse to treat early days as camera-free. The game updates on a fast alpha rhythm, so this page gets re-verified after each patch — the update timeline on the homepage tracks what changed and when.

The checking rhythm that works

  • Cycle the feeds between orders, every time. The camera three have no counter-side tell, so frequency is the entire defense.
  • Treat mismatches as anomalies, not glitches. A figure on the feed that does not match any normal cafe visitor is the signal — do not explain it away as a rendering quirk.
  • Do not let the kitchen pull you off the rhythm. Burnt food and sloppy coffee are their own problems (they can spawn the kitchen threats), but the answer is running the kitchen cleanly — not skipping camera checks to do it.

CCTV in Anomaly Cafe — FAQ

  • Which anomalies only appear on CCTV in Anomaly Cafe?

Three of the documented regular anomalies are camera-side: Eye Ghost, Camera Looking and the head-banging anomaly. They do not give themselves away at the counter — if you never cycle the feeds, they walk through your shift unseen.

  • When is the camera available?

From Day 1. Update v1.3 (Aug 6, 2026) shipped a CCTV prompt hotfix that made the camera available from the first day — before that patch the prompt was unreliable early on. There is no longer any reason to skip camera checks on an early shift.

  • How often should I check the cameras?

Cycle the feeds between orders, every time. The camera-side anomalies have no counter-side tell, so frequency is the whole defense: a check you skip is a window in which all three can pass unnoticed.

  • What do I do when I spot something on camera?

Treat any figure on the feed that does not match a normal cafe visitor as an anomaly rather than assuming a rendering quirk. Each camera anomaly's specific appearance and response is documented on the anomalies page, with a confidence label on every entry.
